Grimsby Docks - UK

Seaweed Salvation?

M.Arch 1

This project explores how a disused and derelict fish market building on Grimsby docks can be reused in a way which benefits the local community, and the region as a whole. The project was considered in the context of the North Sea, its connections, and how Grimsby is a part of a wider infrastructural system.

The resultant proposal was a Seaweed Processing facility utilising the existing and disused infrastructure from the largely redundant fishing industry, and providing it a new purpose. A Michelin star restuarant was also proposed, providing cuisine inspired by both the previous fishing heritage and the proposed seaweed infrastructure.
